Dare to Go Bare with Zoya's Naked Manicure System

Zoya Naked Manicure System

While going au naturale is effortlessly sexy and alludes empowering confidence, it can be intimidating to bare it all. Thanks to Zoya, there's a new system in town that helps rid you of those daunting imperfections - well, at least when it comes to your nails!

Originally debuting at the Greg Lauren Fall 2015 show, the new Naked Manicure has been carefully curated by Zoya Creative Director, Rebecca Isa as brand new technology for those who want a more natural look. Greg wanted each models manicure to look like “the best version of their own natural nails.” Normally that would mean bare but why be bare when you can go naked. He loved the look of a perfected nail with a closest to natural satin finish. The end result was a clean bare, yet still finished looking, nail that was a perfect compliment to his fresh, eclectic style.

So, who can get naked? Everyone! Whether you have damaged or discolored nails, or just prefer a more natural look, the Naked Manicure System will treat, correct and protect your nails while adding instant cosmetic benefits.

If you're used to keeping your fingers polished, it's not always easy to transition back to bare nails. Especially if you're a culprit of skipping base coat, or if you suffer from Too Impatient To Remove My Gels Properly Syndrome (like Kara McGrath at Bustle). With this new four step (with an optional fifth step) process you can treat brittle nails, ridges, and discoloration caused by pretty much anything. Think of it the same way that foundation and concealer leave a clean base for your makeup - this system will leave your nails looking healthier, creating a flawless canvas for future polishes and especially negative space nail art.

Just like finding the perfect shade of foundation, the ideal nude polish for you is based off of your skin toe. To help narrow it down, in an interview with The Fashion SpotRebecca Isa said to “first determine the intensity of your complexion — if you’re light, medium or dark. Then determine if you have a warm or cool undertone.” If you look at the underside of your wrist, a cool undertone is indicted by blue toned veins and a warm tone by green toned veins. In the same article, celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann suggests looking at your unpolished nail bed to help guide you as well. “Usually, nail beds are pink, white or the same color as your skin. A nude polish that matches your nail bed will most likely match your skin tone.” She also suggests looking at your cuticles for answers. If the nude lacquer isn’t right for your skin tone, your cuticle will actually look red or “dirty.”

Zoya Naked System Discoloration Blending

The instant results of the Naked Manicure are achieve by six Perfectors which use optical diffusers, keratin fillers, micronized reflective color pigments and micro thin film formers to create an ultra sheer veil which ensures that the natural vibrancy of the nail is enhanced rather than concealed. The Perfectors contain a proprietary blend of finely ground pigments, vitamins and botanicals that also help to promote micro-circulation and oxygen exchange. Therapeutic benefits are delivered through a meticulous blend of vitamins, proteins and botanicals carefully infused in the Treatments and Perfectors that help improve the condition and appearance of the nail. Here's breakdown:

  • Vitamin B5/Panthenol to improve flexibility and decrease brittleness.
  • Vitamin E to support celluar renewal.
  • Red Algae to improve micro circulation.
  • Gingko to increase oxygen exchange.
  • Sulfur Amino Acid/Protein Complex to fill in pitting and cracking.

And remember, nude polish no longer means boring. It doesn’t have to be the dull, opaque finish of seasons past. “The new way to wear nudes is with a dewy finish,” says Isa. “Start off with one coat of an opaque nude as your base, then layer over it a sheerer nude to give the color a nice, soft sheen, like it has sunlight reflecting off of it.” This will help prevent the lacquer from looking too heavy and saturated.

The complete naked system is now available as a manicure option at Elliven Spa. Give us a call at (412) 278-2500 if you want to get naked with us!
