Detoxing After You've Overindulged

Like us, you've probably spent December basking in table after table of delicious feasts and treats because everyone lets themselves go a bit over the holidays. Though your overindulgences seemed harmless at the time, now you're left feeling guilty, bloated, and tired, which is no way to start off a new year!

It's no surprise that eating right is essential to transitioning into a healthier lifestyle, but what people often neglect is that a successful detox requires a full body effort. Here are a few tips to get you back on track so that you can bring in 2015 looking and feeling your best!

Lemon Water

Vitamin C, which lemons are filled with, is known to help the body detox and burn fat while also regulating the digestive system. Plus, water is your best friend when you're trying to flush out your system.

Give Yourself a (Mental) Break

Instead of beating yourself up from past behavior or letting the scale defeat you, focus on your current actions and how they will improve your health moving forward. Nothing kills your New Year motivation like negativity.

Dry Brush

According to Glamour, "it's good for getting rid dead cells and making your skin look fresh and radiant, but dry brushing also stimulates the circulation of your blood and gets the lymphatic system working harder to keep gross stuff, like bacteria, at bay. To do it: use a natural bristled brush. Start at your feet and move up toward your thighs, making small, gentle circular motions with the brush. Do the same with your arms, always brushing toward your heart."

body mud wrap

Bring On the Mud

You need to get those post SPAliday toxins out of your ENTIRE body - not just your digestive system. Try our Body Mud Wrap to both indulge and detoxify. Sedona and French Red clay body mud is generously massaged into your body, forming a masque that allows anti-oxidants to be absorbed into your skin. This blend purges toxins, leaving the skin soft and re-mineralized with a noticeable glow.

Get Your Beauty Sleep

Nothing helps you restart and regenerate quite like getting your body onto a proper sleep cycle. Aim for 7-9 hours a night and sleep in a dark room without any distractions. That means no TV and put your phone on silent! You should try to get to bed at the same time every night and, more importantly, get up at the same time every morning to reestablish a rhythm.

get moving

Get Moving

No matter what it takes, it is absolutely essential you make room for physical activity 3-4 days a week. Schedule it like any other meeting or appointment in your planner and don't cancel! Getting your muscles moving releases fresh blood, rich in oxygen and nutrients, into your system. After all, no one ever regrets a good workout!

Treat Yourself Without Food

Have you eaten healthy all week, conquered your sleep cycle or burned 5,000 calories? FANTASTIC! Now, instead of rewarding yourself with a boozy night out on the town or a big slice of chocolate cake, channel your indulgence to something that isn't food related. Since avoiding and reducing stress is also important during detoxification, we do strongly recommend a trip to the spa! =) Doesn't an hour massage or a hydrating facial just sound so much sweeter than a pile of the leftover holiday cookies?
